Gullah Parties by Barbara, LLC has been creating beautifully decorated Gullah inspired Eco-friendly receptions/parties/galas with great Gullah organic food and entertainment.  Our primary decorations are with sweet grass baskets and beautiful colorful flowers. Our theme for all of our events is a Taste of Gullah Charleston favored with low-country scenery.  We have beautiful low-country sweet grass baskets highlighted throughout the room at no extra cost. We try to maintain a simple elegant atmosphere for our events. Our events are HIGH end events, we pay attention to every detail!

 

We want you to know that we also can offer some beautiful old Gullah spirituals and a Gullah storyteller to tell some funny stories during the middle of the event as an extra option. Barbara is organized and detail-oriented event planner with over seven years planning and executing events. Thirty-three years of Engineering background gives solid experience managing complex projects. Gullah Parties by Barbara is a certified member of the City of Charleston Minority/Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Program. We are a full event planning and entertainment company reflecting the Gullah culture. We have a floral designer that creates beautiful flower arrangements.  Our executive chef on staff prepares custom southern cuisine dishes.  Locally sourced organic foods are purchased when in season. All tables, chairs and linens for bars and food stations will be rented and delivered by Snyder Rentals if facility has no available tables and chairs.  

 

Gullah Parties by Barbara is proud to support the City of Charleston- Office of Planning, Preservation and Sustainability Green Business Challenge (GBC) by using Eco-Friendly Disposables. We are excited to help our environment with using eco-friendly disposables at all receptions in the city of Charleston, SC.  Our plates and forks are 100% natural, made out of palm leaves and organic bamboo, which are highly renewable resource that is both biodegradable and compostable. The light brown finish matches our sweet grass decorations perfectly embracing the Gullah culture.

 

When glass stemware is cost prohibited, Gullah Parties by Barbara offers to use clear cups made of green and environmental friendly biopolymer derived entirely from plants as an option.

 

In the last two years, some of our very satisfied clients have included the City of Charleston Cultural Affairs Office, City of Charleston Mayor’s Office, Boeing, Spoleto/Piccolo Festival, MUSC President’s Office, Roper Hospital (Physician Society), Jenkin’s Institute for Children, Charleston Airport Authority, Chas County Schools, Trident Technical College, International Long Shore-man, Charleston Branch NAACP, Claflin University, Tiger Lily Florist and various private parties.  The size of our past events has ranged from 75 to 1000 persons.  We can say that Gullah Parties by Barbara has served over 14,000 people over the seven years that we have been in business.

 

We have executed parties at the South Carolina Aquarium, Charleston Gaillard Center, Charleston Visitor Center, Dock Street Theatre, Charleston Museum, Avery Institute, Charleston City Gallery at Waterfront Park, Mt Moriah Life Center, Charleston International Airport, Goodwin AME Life Center, North Charleston Fire Museum, Mepkin Abbey Moncks Corner, Sweetgrass Center, The Founder’s Hall, Trident Technical College, Cooper River Room at the Mt Pleasant Memorial Park, The SchoolHouse and many private venues around the tri-county area of Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head Island.

 

One of our most recent events was a 100th Gala Celebration where we prepared and served dinner for former Vice president Joe Bidden and 825 guests at the Charleston Gaillard Center. We were in charge of decorating up the ballroom and coordinating the VIP reception and presenting the dinner for the gala. Gullah Parties was awarded this sole source contract as a special outside vender for this Gala and managed the entire event at the Gaillard Center with a staff of 45 persons.

 

Gullah Parties by Barbara is a full-service event planning company. We will help you plan your event months out, then coordinate your event by providing coordination of all food, bar service and entertainment needs.  Gullah Parties by Barbara will be the first to arrive on-site to administer set-up, decorate, oversee your reception and complete the clean-up efforts after the event ends. 

 

Gullah Parties by Barbara has a Commercial General Liability of 2 million and Liquor liability of 1 million. A copy of our 2019 business license & insurance rider will be submitted with final contract.
